Hardin-Simmons University’s homecoming celebrations are almost here!
Hardin-Simmons University’s 2024 Homecoming is here! We invite students, staff, alumni, and the entire HSU community to join in celebrating what makes HSU special. From pep rallies to SING! performances and even a petting zoo, there are events for everyone to enjoy. The festivities kick off Thursday, October 24, and run through Sunday, October 27, featuring an art exhibit, campus tours, the annual Homecoming football game, and more.
Laurie Harris from HSU’s engagement committee shares, “We’re thrilled to have everyone back on campus. It’s wonderful to see both our returning and new students coming together for Homecoming.”
Here’s a look at the schedule of events:
Thursday, October 24
- Alumni Awards Banquet (6:30 p.m. @ Johnson Building, $27)
- Celebrate the 2024 recipients of the John J. Keeter Alumni Service and Distinguished Alumni Awards.
Friday, October 25
- Registration (10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. @ Moody Center)
- Pick up tickets and nametags, and purchase tickets for upcoming events.
- Friday Night Festival (5:00-9:00 p.m. @ Moody Center)
- Enjoy food trucks, inflatables, yard games, and more.
- SING! (6:00 p.m. @ Behrens Auditorium, $5 for students, $15 for others)
- HSU students perform popular songs and show tunes. Box office opens at 5:30 p.m.
- Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner (6:30-8:30 p.m. @ Johnson Building, $30)
- Celebrate the achievements of HSU athletes.
- Pep Rally & Fireworks Show (8:15 p.m. @ Newman-Richardson Lawn)
- Join the HSU Cheerleaders, Cowboy Band, Spurs, and Hoss for a high-energy pep rally, followed by fireworks. The Homecoming Court will also be presented.
Saturday, October 26
- HSU Kids Corral (9:30-11:30 a.m. @ Newman-Richardson Lawn)
- A family-friendly event featuring a petting zoo, arts and crafts, meeting Hoss, and rides on the Six White Horses (9:45-10:45 a.m.). Children must be accompanied by an adult.
- HSU Alumni Choir Concert (11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. @ Woodward-Dellis)
- Enjoy a performance by HSU’s talented alumni singers.
- Tours of New Buildings (11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.)
- Explore our newest facilities, including Prichard Hall, Abilene Hall, and the Newman-Richardson Science Labs.
- Homecoming Football Game (1:00 p.m. @ Shelton Stadium)
- Cheer on the Cowboys as they face off against ETBU.
Sunday, October 27
- HSU Family Worship Service (9:30-10:30 a.m. @ Logsdon Chapel)
- Close out Homecoming with a worship service led by Dr. Jacob West (’04, ’07, ’13), Associate Dean of the Logsdon School of Theology, featuring music from the student-led worship band and the World Famous Cowboy Band.
